In days of restrictions and quarantine - focus and success

Need some help to focus in the next few days and weeks?  Coronavirus got you stuck?

When you think about the next few months, what is your outlook?  How are you going to cope?

·      Some people turn to others to get help, what can be done during isolation?  Maybe skype or zoom is good for you-or meeting outdoors, where the air circulates more?

·      Other people are happy to be alone, but may feel overwhelmed with so much “opportunity”

·      I am working pretty much virtually, except for a few “ending” sessions that require face-to-face meetings, and they will be local in a “safe” environment.

·      You should try and work virtually, too.

Self-regulation and self-motivation are key for survival.

How do you keep yourself motivated?  Have you set up a (realistic) schedule and to-do list?

You may want to look up WOOP- but in short this is what it is about:

1.     Wish (what do you want, in general)

2.     Outcome (what would the best – realistic – outcome be

3.     Obstacles (choose the one most likely to occur that keep you from your wish, and start there) watch your life and notice all the obstacles

4.     Plan- so make a plan to either know what to do when the obstacle happens or avoid the obstacle, if you can

Another theme at this time is helping the economy to survive, for me, that means SMEs (KMUs in German).

When I spoke this weekend with a friend, her boss (of an SME) is very worried about sales and turnover at this time, as they don’t have a big cushion.  So, what can we do:

·      Keep up your subscriptions and such, for example, keep your cleaning firm

·      Shop local, even if it is online

·      Shop from small businesses and avoid amazon, etc.

And for some in school or teaching, all courses are going online, for the moment, at least.

A friend of mine wrote an awesome blog about this and I will share it now:

If you need to talk, I am available for Skype and phone calls.

Finally, self-isolation for the greater good.

Remember that you may not be showing any symptoms but still be carrying the virus.  Wash your hands and if you are coughing, follow the local medical suggestions.  For Switzerland, look here: https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home/krankheiten/ausbrueche-epidemien-pandemien/aktuelle-ausbrueche-epidemien/novel-cov/so-schuetzen-wir-uns.html
