Tell your story (to me)

Stories are important and your stories are very important. I enjoy hearing stories, and maybe you would like to share yours with me.

Part of what I do is listen to your stories and help you make sense of them, for your work, and for your life. I love to listen to and help people with their stories. Behind those stories are dreams, and broken dreams; there are things that cause us to move forward and the stories that hold us back. Making sense of our stories helps us to move forward and develop.

Stories are sometimes hard, sometimes joyful, sometimes funny, and often a mixture of the above.

Today I listened to a wee bit of someone’s story which had a very happy end, despite the very dangerous and scary middle.

Maybe you are in the middle of a story and need someone to listen to that. Maybe you are in the beginning of a story, or maybe you have something to share about a story that has finished.

Part of story listening is to help reframe the negative or overwhelming so that we can move forward. A reframe might be as simple as this: “today I have to” can be reframed to “today I choose to” or “today I may” or even better “today I get to”.

This reframing is part of my job as a coach and supervisor. But it is only part of what I do as stories also  lead to meaning which leads to your next steps. I love the journey which my clients take to get to their next steps.

Goals are great - and then there are the next goals and then the next. Sometimes my clients return after a year or two to work on their next level, their next goals,  or to deal with a challenge that their previous circumstances did not hold.

Maybe you have new challenges, even though a week ago you thought you had it all under control.

Maybe you feel the beginnings of burnout or you do not want to move towards burnout and you have done everything AI has told you to.  This is one of my areas of training, among many others.

Maybe you have a business idea and need someone to listen to it and help you as you move forward.

Maybe you are stuck and nothing is moving with your new business.

Maybe you are just stuck. Period.

But no matter, your stories, among other things, will help us work together so you can move forward.

Stories are key.

Because our stories are important and what makes us human.

Are you a storyteller? Do you want to become one? Do you want to share your stories with someone? I am a great listener.

Enjoy your day and weekend,
